Announcement of Candidacy

Bill Wayne files for Legislative Seat.

William Truman (Bill) Wayne announces his candidacy for the 121st District seat in the Missouri legislature. According to Wayne, who filed under the Libertarian Party, "The key issues of my campaign will be property rights and open government. We need to reform not only eminent domain and TIF, but also other programs that put taxpayer money in the hands of private developers, such as Transportation Development Districts." Noting that more than 30 governmental bodies in the 121st District alone are subject to the Sunshine Law, Wayne states, "We need a system to make the dates & results of all these meetings available to everyone using the internet." Among his other issues are limiting government spending and intrusiveness, the Fair Tax, and educational competition.

Wayne is a 1965 graduate of the US Air Force Academy and holds a BS in Agriculture-Business from CMSU and an MBA in Industrial Management from the University of Missouri. He was stationed at Whiteman AFB in 1969-76. He and his wife Sandra, of the Bristle Ridge Adams family, married at the Old Courthouse in 1977. After Wayne retired from the USAF in 1986 they returned to Johnson County, where they have operated Cedarcroft Farm Bed & Breakfast since 1988.

Wayne is a past-president of the Johnson County Historical Society and founded a Warrensburg-based Civil War reenacting unit. He was also deeply involved in the Blind Boone Park Renovation Group and is a member of the American Legion and Elks. He has held numerous offices in state and national Bed & Breakfast industry groups.
